Messages and plans
- What is a message, and how many do I get?
One message = one AI build or change. Free: 40 starter messages when you join, then 8 more every day. Pro and Studio refill over a rolling 5 hours, not monthly. The AI is in beta. If the AI asks you quick questions first, that's free; the build that follows uses one message. You get 40 starter messages when you join, then 8 more every day on Free, 75 messages every 5 hours on Pro and 200 messages every 5 hours on Studio.
- How do free messages work?
On Free you get 40 starter messages when you join, and they never expire. After that a daily refill tops you up to 8: at 00:00 UTC each day, if you have fewer than 8 left, you are topped up to 8. It does not add 8 on top of what you have, so unused daily messages don't pile up, and starter messages you haven't used are never taken away. A message is one AI reply or AI helper that builds or changes something. Quick questions the AI asks first, errors and replies that change nothing don't use one.
- The refill time is shown in your own time zone (for example "8 more at 5:00 PM"), but it always happens at 00:00 UTC.
- The starter messages are given once your email is verified. Until then you get the daily messages only.
- You can always view, edit by hand, save and export, with or without messages.
- Free AI also has a short limit on how fast messages can be sent, so a script can't use them all in seconds, and a daily limit across all Free users that we can lower or pause. If you hit either you'll see a plain message saying when to try again.
- Pro and Studio are different and haven't changed: 75 messages every 5 hours on Pro and 200 messages every 5 hours on Studio.
- What happens when I run out of messages?
On Free, when your messages run out you wait for the daily refill, which tops you up to 8 at 00:00 UTC (the page shows the time in your own time zone and a countdown). You get a gentle warning when you are nearly out. On Pro and Studio the limit is a rolling 5-hour window, not a monthly cap: sending pauses until enough of the window has passed for it to open back up (shown as a countdown). On every plan nothing is deleted and your saved projects stay put, and you can keep viewing, editing the set by hand, saving and exporting the whole time.
- What's the difference between the plans?
Every plan builds sets from your description and has the 2D plan, the 3D view and the planning tools. The plans differ in how much they allow.
- Free: 40 starter messages when you join, then 8 more every day, 1 saved project, a starter library of 310+ props, 8 profile themes.
- Pro ($25 a month): 75 messages every 5 hours, unlimited saved projects, all 860+ props, photo or sketch to a 3D set, collaboration with up to 10 people per project, model imports, 10 profile themes.
- Studio ($75 a month): everything in Pro, 200 messages every 5 hours, the faster video export, the brand kit, priority support, bigger model imports, 12 profile themes.
- Profile themes: each plan also gets 4 more that you earn with achievements.
- Is the AI still in beta?
Yes. The assistant is in beta: it gets better often, and it can still misunderstand a request or get a detail wrong. That is why every change it makes can be undone, and why you can keep editing by hand at any time.
- What counts as a message?
One reply from MoVie AI: building a set from your description, changing it, suggesting coverage, or answering a question. Undoing a change, editing the set yourself and uploading an image don't use any — asking MoVie AI to read the image does. A message is given back when a helper that changes the scene finds nothing to change, when a request fails, and when one never finishes (within 15 minutes). A plain chat answer still counts as a message. If the AI asks you quick questions first, that's free; the build that follows uses one message. A question that built nothing uses none either.
- What are higher-quality suggestions and the faster AI queue?
On Pro and Studio, replies come from a more capable AI model (Claude Opus 5.5; Free uses Claude Sonnet 5.5) — sharper choices on placement, blocking, and lenses, with every camera setup walked through: shot size, lens, angle, and why. And when MoVie AI is busy, Pro and Studio requests are answered before Free ones (the faster AI queue).
- Do the AI helpers use messages?
Yes, one each, the same as a chat reply: Improve this scene, making a scene more realistic, director's notes, three quick upgrades, camera angles, casting, dialogue ideas and location scouting. Script to scenes is one per scene (up to 12 a run), and each fix or upgrade you apply is one more. Improve this scene shows a before and after plan first and uses its message only when it finds changes; if nothing would change, or it fails, the message is given back with a plain reason, and the helpers that change the scene (more realistic, applied upgrades and fixes, location scouting, script to scenes) work the same way. Quick coverage, which builds camera angles in story order, uses no message, and neither do the AI's quick questions before a big build. The budget estimate and the script breakdown use none, and nor do voice commands unless they have to ask the AI. The AI chat in the prop maker works the same way: a request that changes the prop uses one message, and nothing is used if it changes nothing or fails. Turning a photo or a sketch into a set, or into a prop, needs Pro or Studio, like reading any photo.
Billing and cancelling
- Can I cancel?
Yes, any time. Cancel anytime in Settings → Billing. You keep your plan until the end of the period you paid for. It doesn't renew after that and you move to Free.
- How does billing work: price, tax, refunds, trial?
Pro is $25 a month, or $20 a month billed yearly ($240 a year). Studio is $75 a month, or $60 a month billed yearly ($720 a year). Both are billed in advance through Stripe and renew until you cancel.
- Cancel anytime in Settings → Billing. You keep your plan until the end of the period you paid for.
- Upgrades start straight away. Downgrades start at the end of your billing period.
- The price shown is what checkout charges. We don't add tax on top.
- Payments aren't refundable except where the law requires. If you think you were charged by mistake, contact us and we'll look into it.
- There is no free trial. The Free plan is free, with no card needed.
- What happens if I downgrade?
Upgrades start straight away. Downgrades start at the end of your billing period. Your work is not deleted. Here is what changes, as the app does it today:
- Projects: extra projects are kept. They count toward your new limit, so a new project waits until there is room.
- Props: Pro props already in your scenes stay and stay editable; you just can't add more.
- Uploads: kept. You can still see, rename, organise and delete them, but not add more.
- Profile theme: your choice is kept, but the default theme shows until you upgrade again.
- Collaboration: shared editing pauses within about a minute.
- Brand kit: stops showing on exports and documents.
- Community: posts and Unlisted scenes are on every plan, so they stay as they are. Published models and backgrounds can always be taken down.
Your work
- Who owns what I make?
You do. You keep the rights to your scenes, scripts, recordings and uploads. We only store and process them to run the service for you. You may use what the AI makes for you in your own projects, including commercial ones, as far as the law allows. Public sharing is your choice and you can stop any time.
- Is my work private?
Stored files are private unless you share them. Community posts, public scenes, your profile page, watch links and embeds can be seen by anyone. Unlisted posts stay out of feeds, profiles, search and the sitemap, but anyone with the link can open them. Nothing is posted until you press Confirm. We don't use your content to train AI models.
- What file formats can I import and export?
In and out:
- 3D models in: GLB, glTF, OBJ, FBX and STL on Pro and Studio. Files up to 60 MB, 300,000 triangles and 2048 px textures per model, 500 MB of imports in all. (Pro) and Files up to 150 MB, 750,000 triangles and 4096 px textures per model, 2 GB of imports in all. (Studio).
- 3D models and scenes out: GLB, glTF, OBJ and STL (models on every plan; whole scenes on Pro and Studio, up to 1 million triangles on Pro and 3 million on Studio). There is no FBX export.
- Video out: MP4 or WebM, up to 720p and 1 minute on Free, 1080p and 5 minutes on Pro, 10 minutes on Studio.
- Scripts out: PDF, Final Draft and Fountain. Subtitles in and out: SRT and VTT.
- Sound: your own MP3, M4A, WAV, OGG, WebM and FLAC files in; the scene's sound out as WAV, up to 1 minute on Free, 5 minutes on Pro and 10 minutes on Studio.
- Projects: a .movieai project file backs up or moves a project, with its models, pictures, sounds and voice takes, into any account. Storyboards, screenshots and the floor plan export as pictures or PDF.
- Is there a watermark, and how much can I store?
No watermark on any plan. There is no single storage quota for the whole account; each feature has its own limit:
- Saved projects: 1 on Free, unlimited on Pro and Studio.
- Uploads (pictures and short clips): not on Free; 200 on Pro (20 clips) and 1,000 on Studio (100 clips).
- Your own sounds: 10 sounds, 20 MB on Free; 200 sounds, 500 MB on Pro; 1,000 sounds, 2 GB on Studio.
- Imported models: 500 MB in all on Pro, 2 GB on Studio.
Devices, browsers and languages
- What devices and browsers does it work on?
MoVie AI runs in your browser and needs WebGL (any recent Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari has it). The editor fits phones from 320 px wide, and we built and tested it on emulated phones, so tell us through Report a bug if something misbehaves on yours. Phone app: coming soon.
- Recording voice or video needs a recent Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari.
- Speaking commands (speech to text) works in Chrome, Edge and Safari.
- Choosing which speakers to play through isn't available in Safari or on phones.
- WebM video plays in Chrome, Firefox, Edge and VLC. MP4 plays everywhere, phones too.
- Which languages does it support?
The interface is in English only. When the AI asks quick questions before a big build, it asks them in English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese or Italian. Subtitles can be added in extra languages: 1 extra on Free and up to 8 on Pro and Studio per scene.
What's in each plan, in detail
- What's the same on every plan?
Everything in the set: the 2D floor plan and the 3D view, the building tools (walls drawn point by point, openings cut to any size, floors, stairs, ramps and roofs), ground plates you reshape, the editing tools (layers, groups, align, copy and paste between scenes, version history and scene compare), the character editor with its expressions, gestures, pose presets and 31 stunt and fight moves, stand-ins in 27 poses, every lens and camera move, frame guides, depth of field and colour grades, first person and Free View, any hour of the day, weather and seasons, crowds and traffic, bees, 357 sound effects including rivers and waterfalls, fire, smoke and breakable props, the live camera preview with its camera tools and one-click angles, computer voices, an audio mixer and your choice of speakers and microphone, the shot list, storyboard PDF and timeline (with right-click menus, multi-select, snapping, shortcuts and an undo history), and the planning tools (call sheets, the sun planner, blocking marks and crew notes, with smaller lists on Free). Also on every plan: Improve this scene, camera angles checked for a clear view, video editing in the 3D scene (split, trim, reorder, speed, transitions, titles and a look for each shot), a full video editor for your own clips, editable subtitles, doors that open by themselves, characters that look where you point them, a Gaming starter set, and sharing that asks before it posts. New in the latest release and on every plan too: 160+ animations (sitting and lying down, doors and windows, getting into cars, everyday objects), things that move on their own, the prop maker's AI chat, project files, WAV audio export, faster loading and an editor that fits phones. From the release before: props that stop walkers, path characters and animals, turnstiles and working lifts, characters that wait for revolving doors, cars and other people, cars that drive a path with people inside (42 vehicle types), autosave, characters whose feet stay on the ground, shots you drag into a new order, a picture of your own scene on every community post, the full-film video player, 57 achievements, a profile banner with 8 free themes, community search, views on posts and profiles, and quick questions from the AI before a big build. The script editor and its table read are on every plan too, and so are voice acting, your own sounds and video export, within each plan's limits. Plans differ in the library (below), how many messages you get, how many projects you can save, how many backgrounds the background maker keeps and whether you can publish them, how many sounds you can keep and how many extra subtitle languages a scene can have, whether you can collaborate, which profile themes you can use, and the Pro and Studio features in the table above.
- What do Pro and Studio add for a crew?
Pro and Studio add team comments pinned to a spot in the 3D scene, with replies, and an approval flow where the director marks a scene approved. Studio adds the brand kit — your logo, name and colours on storyboards, call sheets, stage plans and video exports — and faster video export, which draws a video export frame by frame instead of recording it in real time: faster, no dropped frames, exact sound, up to 60 frames a second.
- How does voice acting work?
Open Voices in the editor and pick who speaks. Give a line a computer voice — 24 voices by age, gender and accent, 8 feelings such as angry, scared or calm, pitch and speed, and a play button to hear each one — or record it with the microphone you choose (there is a level meter, Auto level, a warning when it is too quiet or clipping, and an Enhance voice switch that cleans up the take and keeps your original), upload a recording, or add the lines from one of your scripts. A take is recorded straight from the microphone and saved on your device as you go, so a busy scene or a closed tab can't punch holes in it and it can be recovered for up to 7 days; if the microphone drops you are told at once and can record the rest, keep what you have or start over, and you can hear the take back and trim it before keeping it. The speaker's mouth moves on the words of the recording and rests closed in pauses (or moves with the words, for a line not recorded yet). Play scene speaks every line in order, in each character's voice, with Pause, Restart and a progress bar, together with the camera move and everyone's walks; you can export the scene as a video with sound or share a link anyone can watch. Computer voices play in the editor: they can't go into an exported video or to a chosen speaker, and recorded lines can. Free keeps 12 recorded lines per project (up to 20 seconds each) and exports 720p video up to a minute; Pro keeps 150 lines with voice effects on recorded lines and exports 1080p up to 5 minutes; Studio keeps 400 lines and exports up to 10 minutes. On a shared project the limits follow the project owner's plan.
- Can I edit the video, and add my own music and sounds?
Yes, on every plan. Split a shot at the playhead, trim either end, reorder shots and set a speed for each from ¼x to 4x. Between camera angles choose a cut, a fade through black or a dissolve (the dissolve fades a held still of the shot you leave), and fade in and out at the ends. Add titles — a title card, centred, a lower third or a top caption, in 5 colours and 3 fonts, with fades, up to 40 a scene — and give a shot a colour look of its own. It all shows in the editor, in real-time and Studio exports and in the community player, and the export limits are the same as before. Upload your own sounds (MP3, M4A, WAV, OGG, WebM or FLAC) onto four audio tracks — voices, music, effects and ambience — with mute, solo and volume for each, and move, trim, loop, split and fade each clip; 48 simple music loops and stings made on your device are there to start from (guide or background tracks, not a finished score). Free keeps 10 sounds, 20 MB in all, up to 12 MB a file and a minute a sound; Pro 200 sounds, 500 MB in all, up to 30 MB a file and 5 minutes a sound; Studio 1,000 sounds, 2 GB in all, up to 45 MB a file and 10 minutes a sound. A public page plays your uploaded sounds only if you switch on "Play my uploaded sounds" (off by default), and reported sounds can be taken down.
- Can I edit subtitles?
Subtitles are made from your script, follow your recorded takes and can be edited on every plan: the text, timing, speaker and style (font, size, colour, box, outline and position, even over the speaker), in a list with find and replace, with split, merge, add and delete, presets for a whole scene, and SRT or VTT in and out. They are burned into MP4 and WebM exports. Free adds 1 extra subtitle language to a scene; Pro and Studio up to 8. "Fix subtitles with AI" and "Translate" cost one message each, and nothing is charged if the AI changes nothing or fails. The AI also learns your spellings and how you write sound notes like [door slams], so the next fix sounds like you (more on what it remembers below). The video editor uses the same subtitles and the same editor.
- Does the AI ask questions, and what does it remember?
For a big, open request — a school, a chase scene, a bridge — the AI asks up to 3 quick questions before it builds: tap an answer, type your own, or choose Just surprise me. The questions cover 35 kinds of scene and are asked in English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese and Italian. A simple, clear request, like adding a chair near the table, just builds. A turn where the AI only asks uses no message, and neither does a question that built nothing; the build that follows uses one, on every plan. It remembers your answers on your account and asks less over time, and it also learns your spellings, how you write sound notes like [door slams] and your character voices. Settings shows what it remembers, lets you change or forget any of it, reset it, and turn asking or remembering off. That memory is private to your account and used only for your own requests, no model is retrained, and across members only anonymous counts of which questions help are kept. Nothing else is remembered — no scripts, audio or scene content.
- Which profile themes and achievements are free?
Achievements are free on every plan: 57 of them, with five rarities from Common to Legendary, 4 secret ones, progress bars and up to 6 favourites on your profile. The original 12 badges are kept. A profile has 16 themes: 8 are free, 2 are for Pro and Studio, 2 are for Studio only, and 4 are unlocked by earning achievements (Golden reel, Director's cut, Marquee and Midnight). Everything else about a profile is on every plan, including banner upload, an accent colour, patterns and layouts, reordering or hiding sections, a featured item, up to 6 pinned scenes, and Preview as visitor. All-time thumbs up and an approval percentage (shown once you have 10 thumbs) cover your scenes and scripts; the thumbs-down total is private unless you switch it on.
- Which Gaming props are free?
The Gaming category has 57 props: gaming PCs and monitors, keyboards and mice, headsets, consoles, handhelds and controllers, a VR headset, racing and flight gear, arcade cabinets, pinball and claw machines, CRT TVs and retro computers, streaming gear, an esports stage and LED wall, gaming desks, chairs and shelves, LED strips and neon shapes. All are original designs with no brand names. Every screen can show a game, a stream, chat, a desktop, code, a terminal, an esports broadcast or TV, or be switched off, and RGB lights can be on, off, rainbow or any colour. 14 of the 57 are on Free (a gaming PC, monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset, console, gamepad, desk and chair, LED strip, and a TV stand, pizza box, soda cans and neon sign); the rest are Pro and Studio, and Free gets stand-ins for them in the four one-click room packs (a gamer's bedroom, a streaming room, an arcade and an esports arena) and in AI-built scenes. Some are usable, not just scenery: the gaming desks (including the L-shaped one) work as real desks, characters can play the arcade, pinball and claw machines, and a racing cockpit is a seat. Ask the AI for a gamer's bedroom or a streaming room and it builds one with the character seated at the desk.
- Can I choose my speakers and microphone?
Yes, on every plan. In the audio settings, pick your speakers and your microphone and press Test for each. Master, voices, ambience and effects each have a volume and a mute, remembered for your account. If a device is unplugged the app falls back to the default and tells you. Choosing speakers isn't available in Safari or on phones, and the app says so there. Interface click sounds stay off unless you turn them on.
- What can I do with the background maker?
Build the world behind a scene: start from one of 23 presets or a blank world, place buildings, city blocks, roads, rails and rivers, scatter trees, rocks and clutter, paint the ground, set the horizon, sky and haze, and add props from the prop maker. Free keeps 2 backgrounds (up to 120 buildings, 24 roads, 24 painted areas, 12 scatter rules, 6 of your own props and 3 maker models in each). Pro keeps 20 (up to 500 buildings, 80 roads, 80 painted areas, 60 scatter rules, 60 of your own props and 12 maker models in each) and can publish to the community and remix other people's. Studio keeps 100 (up to 1000 buildings, 120 roads, 120 painted areas, 120 scatter rules, 150 of your own props and 24 maker models in each), with publishing and remixing too. Using and rating other people's published backgrounds is free on every plan.
- What's in the Free library, and what does Pro add?
Free has a starter library of 310+ props — the furniture for everyday rooms, every building piece, doors and windows, roads and streets, everyday cars plus a police car and an ambulance, trees and nature, crime-scene basics and a basic damage kit — 17 everyday animals (dogs, cats, farm animals, city birds), and 10 everyday outfits for your stand-ins (the people in your scene). Pro and Studio unlock all 860+ props, all 68 animals and 24 herds and flocks, and all 34 outfits: sports and vintage cars, fire trucks, aircraft, boats, the military kit, fairground rides, the 22 ready-made damaged buildings, the specialist props and every uniform. Locked items still show in the Add menu with a lock, so you can preview them before you upgrade.
- Can I bring in models I made in another 3D app?
On Pro and Studio, yes: the maker imports GLB (the best choice), glTF, OBJ, FBX and STL files, keeps their materials, textures and animations, and stands them up at real size, with an origin and size choice and Make lighter or Make editable for heavy meshes. A project file from a 3D app can't be opened in a browser — export it as GLB first; the import screen shows how. Free can still place imported models that other people publish.
- How does the AI chat in the prop maker work?
Open the chat beside the 3D view (a sheet on a phone), describe a prop or ask for a change, and it builds with the maker's own tools while you watch, checks its own work and repairs mistakes. It is on every plan: Free uses Claude Sonnet 5.5 and Pro and Studio use Claude Opus 5.5, and a photo or sketch to build from is Pro and Studio. A request that changes the prop uses one message, and nothing is used if it changes nothing. One request is one undo step, and it keeps working if you click elsewhere or leave the page. The chat is kept with the prop and deleted with it or with your account. Complex props, such as a motorcycle or a lamp, can need a few follow-up requests.
- What can I export, and can I move a project to another account?
Prop maker models export as GLB, glTF, OBJ or STL on every plan. Pro and Studio can export a scene, a selection or a background the same way, up to 1 million triangles on Pro and 3 million on Studio, for your own films, games and renders (not to resell as asset packs); there is no FBX export. Every plan can export a project as a .movieai file, with its models, pictures, sounds and voice takes, and import it into any account (Free imports only what Free can hold). The scene's sound exports as a WAV file, up to 1 minute on Free, 5 on Pro and 10 on Studio. Scripts, subtitles, storyboards, screenshots and the floor plan export on every plan.
- Can the AI make characters act?
Yes, on every plan. Describe what people do, for example "a nervous man paces, checks his watch, then answers the phone", and each character gets an ordered step list on the timeline: walk, run, sneak, pace, sit, use props such as doors, phones and cars, gesture, look at a person, object or the camera, speak, and hand something over, in the order you wrote ("then", "while", "after"). Words like tired, angry, nervous or in a hurry change the walking speed, posture and face. People walk round furniture and keep apart, and a built-in check turns them to face what they look at and pulls a chair out from a table when someone has to sit. The reply lists what each person will actually do and when, and says plainly when an animation doesn't exist yet and a close one was used. Some things are approximate: hugs, handshakes and high fives are stand-ins where nobody touches, there is no kiss or throw yet, and a typed line is spoken by a computer voice. You can edit the result by hand: change, retime, reorder, delete or add a step, play one step or the whole performance, or press Undo this performance to put the person back exactly as they were. If a request changes nothing, or the AI only asks you a question first, it doesn't use a message.
- Is there a video editor?
Yes, on every plan. Bring your own clips, sounds and pictures (or pull in your scene renders and shot list), cut them on a multi-track timeline with keyframes, transitions, titles, speed changes, filters and a built-in sound library, pick from a preset browser you can search and star (looks that match scene moods, transitions, effects, animations, text and subtitle styles, sounds and film templates, 1051 presets in all, with the Pro ones locked on Free), start a film from a template, add subtitles you can edit, and export an MP4 for YouTube, Reels, TikTok or Shorts, audio only, a GIF or a subtitle file. It runs in your browser, saves as you go and keeps earlier versions. Your clips upload to your account, so a film opens with all its clips on your phone and your computer (Free keeps 2 GB, Pro 50 GB and Studio 250 GB); clips added before online storage was switched on stay on the device you added them on. On Pro and Studio you can share a film and edit it together. Free exports go up to 720p30 with a small corner mark; Pro and Studio exports have no mark. The AI assist is optional and can be turned off: it shows a preview first and has Undo, the helpers that run on your device use no message, and any that ask the AI count like the other AI buttons and are given back when nothing changes or it fails. The editor improves footage (sharpen, clean, steady) but cannot invent detail, ProRes camera files need converting first, and exports render on your device, so closing the tab pauses them and you can resume.

- Where are my video editor clips and films kept?
Your clips, sounds and pictures are private to you. While online storage is off they are kept in your browser's storage on your device, so they stay on that browser, can't be opened on another device, and are removed if you clear your browser data. The film itself (the timeline, text, subtitles and settings, not the footage) is saved online as small project files, with your last 10 versions kept so you can go back; a film too large to save online stays on your device. Deleting a film deletes its saved versions, and deleting your account removes your films and any online clips. Clips are never sent to the AI. Exports are made on your device and kept in your browser for a day so a download can finish.
- What does the video editor's AI assist send?
Only a summary of your own project: clip and track names, times, effects, subtitle text, your shot names and any script you paste in. Your footage, audio and pictures are never sent. The panel can be turned off, and nothing changes until you press Apply. Helpers that run on your device (Auto cut, Make it better, Fix the audio) use no message; the ones marked 1 msg count like every other AI button, and the message is given back when nothing changes or an error happens. Pro and Studio message limits are unchanged.
- Do doors open on their own?
Yes, on every plan. When a character or animal walks through a door it opens, stays open while they pass and shuts behind them, with door sounds. It works for hinged, double, French, sliding, saloon and garage doors and gates, for people you key by hand and people the AI directs, on upper floors and in rotated rooms. Each door can be set to Auto-open, Always open, Always closed or Locked (people go around a locked door). It looks the same in the editor, when you scrub the timeline, in first person, in the community player and in exported video.
- Can I control where a character looks?
Yes, on every plan. Point a character at a person, animal, object, the camera or a spot; the eyes lead, the head follows and a big turn brings the shoulders, within natural neck limits. Drag the aim ring in 3D, right-click Look at, or add Looks at keys on the timeline (a snap, a natural or a slow turn, and how long to hold). A look the AI sets is the same as one you set by hand, and when an action such as checking a watch starts or ends the head eases over instead of snapping.
- How does the AI choose camera angles?
Every camera the AI suggests is checked for a clear view before you see it, and a camera that fails is moved, re-aimed or given another lens. Each shot is judged at its start, middle and end, so a shot of someone walking keeps them in frame, and if they would walk out of a fixed shot the camera is given a follow move. Suggested angles come with a reason and go straight into the shot list. Quick coverage builds angles in story order without using a message; the AI's suggestions cost one message, given back when it changes nothing or fails.
- What is the Production Hub?
Every project has a Production Hub: one place to run the shoot, built to work on a phone. It holds the script breakdown (read locally, with no AI), a Storyboard board of every scene, cast and crew, the shoot-day schedule, call sheets, locations and permits, props and wardrobe, shot ticks, tasks, files, a budget, notes, comments and an activity feed. Contact details are private: each field is shown only to the roles you choose, and exports carry only what the person exporting can see. A read-only crew link needs no account, shows only the sections you pick and stops working the moment you revoke it. Call sheets come as a PDF, and you can email everyone their own call time with a private link. Tasks, budget and lists export as CSV or PDF, and the whole project can be saved as a bundle and imported again. The schedule and the last call sheet you opened can be read offline, and the hub checks for other people's changes every so often rather than editing live together. The hub itself uses no AI and no messages, and none of its crew or contact data is sent to the AI; only the board's optional AI buttons use a message, and they see that one scene alone. Studio adds your brand kit on its PDFs. What each plan gets:
- Production Hub: Free Every project; Pro Every project; Studio Every project.
- Team roles and crew links: Free No collaborators, 1 crew link; Pro Up to 10 collaborators, 5 crew links; Studio Up to 10 collaborators, 20 crew links.
- Tasks, props and budget: Free 30 tasks, 60 props, 30 budget lines; Pro 500 tasks, 1,000 props, 400 budget lines; Studio 2,000 tasks, 3,000 props, 1,500 budget lines.
- Files and references: Free Links only (20); Pro 300 files, 1 GB; Studio 1,500 files, 5 GB.

- Activity history: Free 30 days; Pro 365 days; Studio 730 days.
- Can I undo what the AI changes?
Yes, on every plan. Each change MoVie AI makes has its own undo button, and the scene's version history keeps the earlier states so you can go back further. Applying an Improve this scene plan is one undo step, and it saves a “Before AI” version first.
- Do I need to download or install anything?
No. MoVie AI runs in your browser on a computer, a tablet or a phone, so there is nothing to download to build, light, shoot-list and share a scene. Install app in the footer can add it to your home screen or desktop where your browser allows it, and an offline page shows when there is no connection. Videos and files you export are saved to your device.

Getting help
- How do I get help?
Use the Contact page to write to us. For a bug or an idea, use Report a bug, where you can also see what has been fixed. Studio messages are marked priority in our inbox; we don't promise a response time on any plan.
Words we use
- GLB / glTF
- The standard files for 3D models on the web. GLB is the single-file version and the best choice to import.
- OBJ
- An older, simple 3D model file that most 3D apps can save.
- FBX
- A 3D file used by many modelling and game tools. MoVie AI can import FBX models; it does not export FBX.
- STL
- A plain 3D shape file with no colours, common for 3D printing.
- SRT / VTT
- Subtitle files: plain text lines, each with a start and end time. You can bring them in and take them out.
- Fountain
- A plain-text way to write a screenplay that many writing apps can read.
- Final Draft
- A well-known screenwriting program. MoVie AI exports scripts in its file format.
- Previs
- Short for previsualisation: working out a shot in rough 3D before you film it.
- Animatic
- A rough film made from your shots, each held for the time you set, with camera moves, sound, voices and subtitles. You can play it or export it as a video.
- Crew report
- A printable report of a scene or a film for the crew: shots with lens and height, storyboard frames, a lighting diagram, props and characters. Save it as a PDF or share it by a private link.
- Depth of field
- How much of the picture is sharp. A wide-open aperture or a long lens keeps only the subject sharp and blurs the background.
- Blocking
- Where each person stands and moves in a scene, and where the camera is, shot by shot.
- Call sheet
- The one-page daily plan for a shoot: where to be, when, and who is needed.
- Lens / focal length
- How wide or close a shot looks. A small number (like 24 mm) is wide; a large one (like 85 mm) is close and compressed.
- Rolling window
- On Pro and Studio, your messages are counted over the last few hours, not per calendar month. Each message stops counting once it is older than the window. Free works differently: see Daily refill.
- Daily refill
- On Free, a small top-up each day at 00:00 UTC (shown in your own time). If you have fewer than the daily amount left, you are topped up to it; it isn't added on top, and unused daily messages don't pile up. Your one-time starter messages never expire.
- Starter messages
- The one-time messages a new Free account gets when its email is verified. They never expire and are used after the daily ones.
- Production Hub
- A page for each project that holds the shoot's script breakdown, cast and crew, schedule, call sheets, locations, props, tasks, files and budget, built to work on a phone.
- Crew link
- A private, read-only web address for people without an account. It shows only the sections you choose and stops working when you revoke it.
- Stand-in
- A person you place in a scene to stand where an actor will, in a pose and an outfit of your choice.
- Triangles
- The small flat pieces a 3D model is made of. More triangles means more detail and a heavier file.
- Proxy
- A light copy of a big video that the editor plays while you work, so a large file stays smooth. Your original is kept and used for the export.
- Keyframe
- A saved value at one moment, such as a position, size or volume. The editor fills in the change between two keyframes.
- Ripple delete
- Deleting a clip and closing the gap it leaves, so everything after it moves earlier. In the 3D scene maker's timeline (Shift+Delete) the voices, subtitles, doors, cameras and sounds after it move together.
- Marker and region
- A named, coloured flag on the timeline, or a stretch between two flags. An in and out range on the 3D timeline can loop or be sent to export.
- LUT
- A .cube file that holds a colour look. Pro and Studio can load one in the video editor and put it on a clip.
- Ducking
- Lowering the music automatically while someone is talking, then bringing it back.
